Olive at Hawker COVID Safe Plan 2021

In response to the outbreak of Corona-virus (COVID-19), Olive at Hawker have implemented several operational and health and safety measures as part of this Pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic requires a uniquely focused approach to work health and safety. To keep our venue healthy and safe we have assessed the way we work to identify, understand and quantify risks and to implement and review control measures to address those risks. As COVID-19 restrictions are gradually relaxed we will work together to adapt and promote safe work practices, consistent with advice from health authorities, to ensure our venue is ready for the social distancing and exemplary hygiene measures that will be an important part of the transition.

Risks and the Control Measures we’re taking:

  • Maintaining 1.5m between each other. Where possible in providing service to you, our team will also adhere to the 1.5m physical distance guidelines where possible.

  • Signs have been placed at the entrance outlining our conditions of entry.

  • Hand sanitisers are available upon entry.

  • If our venue is at capacity, please wait for others to leave before entering.

  • Hand wash facilities are available.

Please consider waiting outside for your takeaway order if our venue is at maximum capacity.

  • On busier days, we will have a dedicated team member in the dining area to ensure physical distancing is taking place as well as a dedicated observer who will be monitoring our live CCTV.

Dining In

  • We will always adhere to the maximum occupancy regulations.  This may mean sometimes you may not be able to dine-in if you have not pre-booked or we have exceeded our maximum occupancy.

  • Bookings via our online portal are preferred to ensure we adhere to maximum occupancy.

  • Everyone aged 16 and over who are entering Olive at Hawker must check in using the Check In CBR App.

  • Please wait to be seated, your server will let you know where is best for you.

  • Please DO NOT ENTER if maximum occupancy is reached.

  • Please ensure you adhere to your booking terms.

  • Please DO NOT ENTER if you’re unwell.

  • Abusive or aggressive behaviour towards staff and other patrons won’t be tolerated and you will be asked to leave and possibly banned from revisiting.

Please DO NOT rearrange the furniture.  If you require more seats, just ask one of our team, they’ll be happy to help - so long as it’s within the occupancy capacity.  When tables and chairs are rearranged, they will be done to ensure there is at least 1.5m between other groups.

Cleaning / Sanitising

  • We have always adhered to a high standard of workplace cleanliness and food safety.  We will continue to do this and implement additional cleaning practices to ensure our venue is kept at this high standard.

  • Areas used for food preparation and serving will be thoroughly cleaned, and food preparation surfaces and utensils will be cleaned and sanitised before use to ensure there is no risk to food safety.

  • We will brief our team on hygiene processes and procedures, each shift. We will ensure all team members are aware of safe food handling practices and heighten health and hygiene policies and procedures, such as the importance of hand hygiene and regular sanitation of food preparation surfaces, equipment and customer and dining areas.

  • As always, all dishes, cutlery, water bottles and glasses will be sanitised in a commercial grade dishwasher after each dine in.

  • After each dine-in customer leaves, we will thoroughly clean and sanitise the area, before a new customer can use the table.

  • We will also regularly clean and sanitise takeaway waiting areas, commonly touched surfaces (such as at the service counter, doors etc.) as well as restrooms, and baby change tables.

  • Disposable menus are in place and will be used after each dine-in.

Feeling Unwell?

  • If any of our customers or team members are feeling unwell, we ask that you please stay and seek advice from a medical practitioner.

  • If we suspect a customer or team member has been infected with COVID we will cease trade immediately and seek advice from the relevant authorities. On advice, further actions may be taken, such as contacting people that potentially came in to contact with the suspected/confirmed case.

  • If an employee or customer has serious symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, we will call triple zero (000).
